A classified hearing on reports of UFOs has reportedly taken place in the USA. The meeting is another sign of growing demand among lawmakers for increased government transparency on the issue. As speculation mounts, Kate Orson suggests that alien life may not be quite what it seems
In a recent Premier Christianity article Dr Matthew Halstead discussed the claims of former American Intelligence official David Grusch that the US has “hard evidence that earth has been visited by a non-human intelligence.”
Halstead thinks it’s time for Christians to take UFOs seriously because people like Grusch are “highly credible people, with impeccable credentials.’’
As American lawmakers reportedly gather for a covert meeting to discuss the subject in greater depth, some are wondering, is the truth about to be revealed?
Here’s why I think we should be cautious.
A few years ago when I was still following new age spirituality, I came across some testimonies of alien abduction. What was interesting is that many of the testimonies corroborated each other in that their experiences were very similar. This seemed to be evidence that such experiences were not the result of a wild imagination.
However, as I began to become curious about the Bible, I came across the testimony of Laura Maxwell. Laura grew up in a spiritualist family and became a spiritualist too. Laura and her mother received telepathic messages from alleged ‘ghosts’ and ‘alien spirit guides.’ In her teens and twenties Laura had recurring dreams and waking visions of alien craft landing all over the world and killing people. While walking home one evening with her aunt they both saw a UFO.
Laura, and her mother began to seek truth and ask questions because they were suffering from sleep paralysis and also verbal abuse from their guides. What they said also had “many contradictions and even lies.”
The day after praying for answers a Romany Gypsy turned up on Laura’s doorstep. The gypsy told her she’d given up palm reading to follow Jesus. Laura became a Christian and dedicated her life to Jesus too. After receiving deliverance she was completely set free from interactions with spirits and ‘aliens.’
Could those who’ve supposedly had contact with aliens actually be experiencing demonic attack?
Alien abductees usually assume they have been literally physically abducted and taken into a spacecraft. However testimonies like Laura’s point to a different explanation, that abductees are having a spiritual experience rather than literally going somewhere.
In an interview on CBN, the astrophysicist and and co-author of Lights In The Sky And Little Green Men; A Rational Christian Look At UFOs and ExtraTerrestrials Hugh Ross says, ‘‘The Bible tells us God created two different species of intelligent life. One that is constrained by the physics of the universe (humans) and one that is not (angels). These angels live in a different dimensional realm, where God has given them the power to come into our realm temporarily.”
Ross comments that some of the strongest evidence for UFOs is when multiple observers track a UFO going through the atmosphere. What has been found is that while “the velocity often runs between 5mph and 25,000mph the observers never record the occurrence of a sonic boom, or a heat friction trail behind the UFO. If it was a physical object you would get a sonic book or heat friction trail.” Ross also observes that while craters are sometimes reportedly found from UFOs there is no physical evidence, such as debris.
Could those who’ve supposedly had contact with aliens actually be experiencing demonic attack? This would explain why people are having similar experiences. Through hearing other testimonies from ex-alien abductees, Laura has observed that there’s one message that aliens/ghosts/spirits are keen to impart and it’s that, “The Bible is wrong. Lucifer is god, not Jesus; that they created us; we originate from the same distant star systems as them and they will return to save our world!’’
Laura shares that aliens/spirit guides have been saying for decades that a time will come in history where “the world will be cleansed of Christians and their ‘low vibes,’ removing them for being intolerant etc, and that this is necessary to help the world evolve. They say, they will spare those who leave the Christian faith to accept their message.”
Laura observes that this all relates to what the Bible says about the great falling away and great deception in the end times. For example Matthew 24:24, “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.’’
Before we get too excited about little green men, let’s remember that God doesn’t mention them in the Bible, but he does tell us that “Satan himself masquerades an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)
As the world becomes more and more open to life on other planets, we Christians must remember to test the spirits, and to weigh up all evidence according to what the Bible says.
When it comes to any reports of physical evidence for ETs I think we need to approach it with caution. But if a time of great deception is coming, it will also be an opportunity to tell people about Jesus: “And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.” (Daniel 12:3)
