Today the High Court ruled Felix Ngole was lawfully thrown off his social work course, after being accused of posting derogatory comments about gay people on a Facebook page. Writing exclusively for Premier Christianity, Felix explains why he believes God is using his case for good
Romans 8:28 says: "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good for those who love Him, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose."
This is a scripture I hold so dear because it keeps me sure footed in the knowledge that God who started this case will finish his work according to his will.
It all started one morning when my wife was having a bath and meditating on the word of God. The Holy Spirit dropped words into her that God will use me to change policies in this country.
When she shared this with me we laughed about it because I am not interested in politics and at that time I had not even applied for the Social Work course. But we committed these words to the Lord in prayer and asked for his will to be done.
Four years later I started my social work course at Sheffield University and got involved in the discussion which brought me to where I am today.
My passion is to love everyone regardless of their race, sexuality or gender. I want to love everyone just as Christ loves them, but also to proclaim his truth. This is what I was doing during the Facebook discussion that I took part in. When I was advised that what I had done was against the policy I knew I had to defend the word of God. I was convinced I had done the right thing by answering a question from someone who wanted to know if homosexuality was a sin and what the Bible said about it.
When I was finally dismissed from the course I did not waiver because I knew this is bigger than me. This is about Christians being able to take part in a lawful debate.
At this point my wife and I continued to pray and trust God because we felt this was connected to what God had said to her four years earlier. I miraculously got connected to Christian Concern who took over the case and have done a fantastic job ever since.
I have had to declare in every job application that I was expelled from the University of Sheffield for taking part in a debate in support of traditional marriage. I have left a job during the course of this case because I felt isolated and victimised because of my beliefs. My family has been affected by this experience but we continue to trust God who has been looking after us. I believe victory belongs to Jesus. He has used this case to make clear his will for us, that Christians do not have to be afraid to speak the truth as this is the only thing that will set people free.
It is because of love and not hate that we share the Word of God. I don't think I have lost the case at all because right now this very important issue is being discussed throughout the world for his glory. The word of God was also read in court and as a result it has been recorded for future reference. The body of Christ continues to unite in prayer in one accord because of today's verdict. Clearly traditional Christian beliefs are being censored by our government.
It has been tough and rough and I became estranged to those I considered as friends but it has also made me gain more brothers and sisters all over the world who are fighting a good fight of faith.
I would like to thank all those who have stood with me and my family in prayer, those who have supported Christian Concern financially and through prayer, Christian Concern who have made it possible for me to get this far by working tirelessly, my family who have listened, prayed and encouraged me and lastly my wife who has interceded for me, wiped my tears, gave me a shoulder to cry on, held my hand and encouraged me all the way. May the Lord bless you all.
It is God who started this and I believe policies have started changing, especially in universities because of the impact of this case and many other changes will come into place. But above all many people all over the world have heard the word of God and heaven rejoices at souls that have been saved. My wife is currently writing a book that will capture my journey in detail and it's titled Victory Belongs to Jesus. May the Lord bless you for your kindness and encouragement.
